SMALLEST VOLTAGE REFERENCES FIT IN 3-PIN SC70

SUNNYVALE, CA—May 12, 2000—Maxim Integrated Products introduces the LM4040/LM4041, two-terminal shunt mode precision voltage references. These miniature devices fit in a tiny 3-pin SC70 and use 40% less board space than the already small SOT23-3 packages, making them ideal for space-critical portable applications.

The advanced design of the LM4040/LM4041 eliminates the need for an external stabilizing capacitor, while ensuring stability with any capacitive load, thus making these devices easy to use. The minimum operating current is 60µA for the LM4041-1.2 (maximum operating current of 12mA).

Maxim’s LM4040/LM4041 utilize fuse and zener-zap trim of reference voltage during wafer-sort to ensure that the prime parts have an accuracy of better than ±0.1% (A grade) at +25°C. Four grades (A, B, C, and D) are offered for each device. The highest-grade devices (A) have an initial accuracy of 0.1%, the B-grade devices have 0.2%, and the C-grade devices have 0.5%, all with a tempco of 100ppm/°C guaranteed from -40°C to +85°C. The low-cost D grade has 1% initial accuracy with 150ppm/°C tempco.

A fixed breakdown voltage of 1.225V is offered for the LM4041, while 2.048V, 2.5V, 3.0V, 4.096V, and 5.0V are offered for the LM4040. Both devices are also offered in 3-pin SOT23 packages. Prices start from $0.45 (1000-up, FOB USA).
