Industry's Highest Accuracy (1°C), Programmable, Five-Channel Temperature Monitor

SUNNYVALE, CA-October 25, 2005-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX6699, a precision five-channel temperature sensor in a small 16-pin QSOP or TSSOP package. The MAX6699 accurately measures its own temperature and the temperature of up to four external locations with 1 degree Celsius temperature accuracy. The four remote locations can be CPUs, GPUs, memory devices, and other locations important in notebook applications. The MAX6699 also allows the user to program the temperature threshold of alarm outputs. Designed for user flexibility, these outputs can serve as an interrupt, or can be connected to a system fan or other thermal management circuitry.

The combination of high precision, small size, and high flexibility makes the MAX6699 the ideal choice for notebook applications, where accurate temperature readings of multiple locations are a must.

The MAX6699 communicates through an SMBus™ interface. It operates from a 3.0V to 5.0V supply voltage range and consumes only 500microamps of supply-current which drops to only 3microamps in standby mode. The MAX6699 is specified over the -40 degrees Celsius to +125 degrees Celsius temperature range. Prices start at $2.75 (2500-up, FOB USA).

SMBus is a trademark of Intel Corp.
