London is one of the most famous cities in the world and serves as the capital of England and the United Kingdom. The city is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, home to such familiar places as Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, and Buckingham Palace. London has a wide range of peoples, cultures, and religions, and more than 300 languages are spoken within its boundaries.
About 20 miles from central London is Maxim's UK Winnersh site. The Winnersh site is situated on the outskirts of Reading and Wokingham, both old market towns. Reading was once famous for its "3Bs"—biscuits, beer, and bulbs. These days, there is very little left of those once flourishing industries, as Reading and Wokingham now thrive on IT, software development, light engineering, and the service industries.
Travel a short distance down the road from UK–Winnersh, and you'll find the town of Theale, home to the UK–Theale site. Theale used to be a stop on the main coach road between London and Bristol, and had a brewery where weary travelers could quench their thirst. Hence the name "Theale"—"The Ale." The Theale facility is Maxim's European warehouse and is responsible for shipping orders from inventory held in the UK.
