Indianapolis is the capital of the state of Indiana. The city has a diversified economy, contributing to the fields of education, health care, and finance. Tourism is also a vital part of the economy of Indianapolis, and the city plays host to numerous conventions and sporting events. Perhaps the most well known of these is the annual Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The headquarters of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the main governing body for U.S. collegiate sports, and the National Federation of State High School Associations also call Indianapolis home.
Indianapolis has designated six official cultural districts—Broad Ripple Village, Massachusetts Avenue, Fountain Square, the Wholesale District, Canal and White River State Park, and Indiana Avenue. These areas have held historic and cultural importance to the city. In recent years they have been revitalized and are becoming major centers for tourism, commerce, and residential living. The soon-to-be-completed Indianapolis Cultural Trail is a world-class urban bike and pedestrian path that will connect the city's five downtown cultural districts, neighborhoods, and entertainment amenities.
Maxim's Westfield Indiana Remote Design Center was established in January 2006. The site, which is located about 20 miles outside of Indianapolis, has a fully-equipped lab, including two IC test platforms, and employs a system power management group and a test development group. The test and design projects at the site include LED drivers, hotswap controllers, and supervisory and power management projects.
