Beijing, the capital city of China, is the political, cultural, and educational center of the country, and home to significant electronics and semiconductor research and development. Beijing is China's second largest city after Shanghai, with more than 17 million people in Beijing's area of jurisdiction. The city is a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways, roads, and motorways passing through the city.

Beijing is an ancient city that has been an integral part of China's history for over 3000 years. The city is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples, and huge stone walls and gates. The Forbidden City lies at the heart of Beijing's historical centre. This enormous palace compound was home to the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties and is surrounded by several former imperial gardens, parks, and scenic areas. The Forbidden City also hosts the Palace Museum, which contains imperial collections of Chinese art.

Maxim's Beijing office, established in 1997, was the first Maxim office in China. The office is located in the Haidian District, which is famous for its large concentration of universities and areas of technology and business.
