The DS32C35 will detect a battery that slowy ages and goes bad while the chip is on battery back up. However it will not detect a battery that is missing/removed prior to Vcc removal. Since users have access to my battery this limited test functionality could lead my application to think that the back up was valid if the battery is pulled. I would like to see this chip updated to cover the missing battery scenario and also have provisions to extend the aging test from every 64 seconds to ~ 5 minutes to perserve battery life.
