Why do you guys stopped manufacturing DS2490? It is the essential component for USB adapter. Do you plan to introduce the replacement?

Hello,
We did not stop manufacturing the DS2490. The website will be updated to reflect that the device is not recommended for new designs. Sorry for that misclassification.
You are correct that it is the key silicon in the DS9490 or any other non-Maxim USB adapter and you will see that there is no indication on the DS9490 product page that this device is not available or not recommended.

In light of the "not recommended..." statement, we chose to use a SiLabs CP2102 USB to UART bridge in conjunction with a DS2480B, but we are having problems when attempting to communicate with iButtons at OverDrive Speed. We NEVER had any problems with the DS2490.
So - if the DS2490 device is NOT recommended for new designs, then what would you suggest we use as a replacement in a NEW design?

The DS2490 is still available for existing customer designs. We don't recommend it for new designs because demand is quite low and additional manufacturing would require a redesign, which we don't anticipate.
For new designs, consider the DS9490.
