HFAN-02.6.0: Reducing Noise and Wander in Low-Speed (<622Mbps) Optical Transmitters

Abstract: This application note will discuss common causes of vertical eye closure in low speed (<622Mbps) optical transmitters. Design suggestion and tests will be provided to help diagnose the transmitter. Methods will also be provided to improve the performance. The application note will focus primarily on the MAX3735A and MAX3646 as these devices are commonly used in multi-rate (155Mbps to 2.7Gbps) and low data rate applications.
