Maxim Alternatives for the National Semiconductor LM4863

National Semiconductor LM4863

Benefits of the MAX9710 over the LM4863:

  • The maximum output power at 5V, RL = 4Ω, THD+N < 1% is 2.6W for the Maxim part while only 2.2W for the LM4863.
  • The THD+N performance at 1W, RL = 8Ω is 0.01% for the Maxim part as opposed to 0.3% for the LM4863 under the same conditions.
  • The maximum output offset for the Maxim part is 14mV as opposed to 50mV for the LM4863.
  • The Maxim part has a mute function which in conjunction with lower output offset, ensures better click and pop performance as compared to the LM4863.
  • The Maxim part has an AC (f = 1kHz, VRIPPLE = 200mVPP) PSRR rating of 87dB as opposed to 67dB for the LM4863.

Benefits of the LM4863 over the MAX9710:

  • The LM4863 has a wider supply range of 2.0V to 5.5V as opposed to 4.5V to 5.5V for the Maxim part.
  • The LM4863 has a HP-IN pin which allows the device to drive single ended loads while disabling the BTL amplifiers.
  • The LM4863 has a lower maximum shutdown current of 2µA as opposed to 30µA for the Maxim part.
